Okay, I finally got through Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn. It took me three tries before I finally finished the first book and I'm glad I did. As to why it took me so long, I like my protagonists to be strong and proactive but Kitty starts out so passive I had a hard time getting through the first few chapters. Worse, people were actively abusing Kitty and she was happy about it. I just wanted to scream at her to stand up for herself and grow a spine. Fortunately, she does it just took longer than my typical tolerance. If I hadn't had so many recommendations to read it, I wouldn't have tried three times.
Now I'm almost done with Kitty Goes to Washington and I'm enjoying it, though I feel that a certain villainous evangelist gets pissed away. Sort of like Boba Fett.
